Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
There is nothing like a good salad full of "stuff"...especially if that "stuff" is plucked fresh from your garden and tossed into a crisp, medley of summer vegetables...
...then drizzled with this homemade buttermilk ranch dressing!
This thick and creamy dressing is full of flavour and fresh herbs and is excellent on salad, baked potatoes, seasoned oven roasted potato wedges and great as a dip for vegetables and chips!
To make this dressing you will need, buttermilk, sour cream, mayonnaise, grainy dijon mustard, a lemon, 1 or 2 green onions (or snip a handful of fresh chives), 1 small clove of garlic, granulated sugar, a small handful of fresh dill and salt and pepper.
First, mince the green onions or chives (you can chop them finer if you don't wish to have huge chunks in your dressing)...
...peel and grate the garlic clove and chop the dill weed...set aside.
In a medium sized bowl, add 1 cup of buttermilk,
...a 1/4 cup of sour cream,
...a 1/4 cup of mayonnaise ( not salad dressing such as "Miracle Whip")
...and 1 tbsp. of grainy dijon mustard.
Next, add in a 1/4 tsp. of salt, an 1/8 of a tsp. of pepper and 1 tsp. of granulated sugar.
Toss in the minced onion, garlic and dill weed and squeeze the juice of a half of a lemon into the mixture...
Whisk to combine...
...then pour into a 500 ml glass jar.
Serve right away but for best results, let dressing sit in the fridge for a few hours or until flavours have blended together nicely.
...and there you have it...the fresh taste of summer with your very own thick and creamy, full of flavour salad dressing! Enjoy!
