Old Fashioned Cherry Coke Floats

I remember growing up, Friday nights were so exciting at our house! School was out for the weekend, "Dallas" was on the tube that evening and Mom would make us Coke floats! Nestled in the 1970's harvest gold armchair, I would anxiously wait for my Mom to bring these old fashioned treats down to the living room to kick off our weekend family night...those were the good ole days!

You can start your own weekend family nights (with a box set of "Dallas") and a few simple ingredients! You will need, a tall soda or drinking glass, vanilla ice cream, maraschino cherries (and juice), carbonated cola (such as "Coke"), a spoon and a straw.

In your tall soda or drinking glass, add one scoop of vanilla ice cream...

...next, drop in 1 or 2 maraschino cherries and 1 tsp. of maraschino cherry juice.

Add another scoop of vanilla ice cream...

...and 2 more tsp.'s of cherry juice.

Next, crack open a can (or bottle) of Coke and slowly pour over top of ice cream.

You may need to stick your spoon into the ice cream, which will allow the Coke to get to the bottom of the glass.

The mixture will foam up, then settle as you slowly pour in the pop...

Stop pouring when the foam stops settling and begins to flow over the side of glass...

Serve immediately with a spoon and a drinking straw.

A quick and easy treat for a Friday (or Saturday, Sunday, Monday...) night in with your peeps! Enjoy! :)
